Some similarities and differences...

In our post we use nick names and some of you use your full name. We are informal in the presentations and the coments, and you too. Our relationship is very friendly and we are very happy for that because we think this proyect is a good idea to learn.
Our lifestyles are different in some things and similar in another things. We don't work because here is difficult get a job if you don't have a degree.
And we don't have time to work because the studies are very hard. All of you study and work at the same time, that's amazing!! We are really surprised for that.
Another difference is that we start classes very early in the morning and you start it later than us. A similar thing is that all of you live with your family, and we too.
We share some likes with you. For example, we get out with friends at the weekends, like you. Most of us go to the movie theatre or go to drink something to the town centre.
We are very jealous because most of you live near to the beach, and we like it so much!! You go there every weekend and the trip takes you about three hours. We can go there only in the holidays, once a year!!
So, we live in different countries, but we are very similar. What do you think?

Coma Estas,
I would say that although we are hundreds of miles apart, we share similar ideas and hobbies. Yet, there are definite differences. Many of us work here in America to pay for our college outright as well as other bills and necessities we need. Some of us are lucky and get scholarships that pay for everything, but for the most part college is a privilege and not a guarantee. Do you pay for your college? Yes, I have to agree that living next to the beach is nice, and we do see people from visiting other countries. I see a lot of people from regions near Russia and some people from Central America come in. Do you have tour lines or cruise lines in Argentina?

Adios

Hey,

I definitely agree that we have many similarities and some differences. We go to classes later because most classes offer several different time slots to meet the students demands. Some students work during the day and therefore have to take night classes and others work at night and take morning classes. I agree that working and going to school is hard sometimes but most of us don't have a choice so we adapt. I do live right near the harbor but I hardly ever go there because parking is horrible and everything is overpriced. Also, there are just too many tourists and thats very annoying. Do you have to deal with tourist?

Hola! I love that we are able to learn about different cultures through this project. It is so interesting learning about similarities and differences in our cultures. At school some people live on campus and they do not live at home, but I live at home with my parents. I will probably be moving out next year and living with a few friends near UMBC.
I think it awesome that you all do not have to work. It is very hard trying to manage school, work, and then time with friends and family. I love my life, but it can get very overwhelming at times. Do your parents pay for everything? Also you said it is hard to get a job without a degree, does that include working at a restaurant?
I love the beach. I do not get to go very often because I am too busy, but it is nice to know I can drive about three hours and be at a beach.

Bye

It is funny to hear you say that we live close to the beach. In m mind a 3-hour drive is pretty long. I don’t find myself going to the beach very often, but it isn’t my favorite thing to do.
When you say is hard to get a job in Argentina for students, do you mean a "service industry" job like a waiter or a cashier? Or are you saying that it is hard to have a career without graduating from a university?

We're very similar and very different at the same time. But most of all we're both young and have a future in front of us. But man, am i jealous of the fact that you live so close to the beach. Like my classmates said, the closest we are to the beach is about 3 hour and the beach is probably my favorite place to be. I think culturally, we are a little different. The united states is a giant bowl of nationalities so its really hard to get along with all these different kinds of people. Do you as Argentinians have a lot of mixed nationalities within your country or is it mostly Argentinians?

hi Will!
here in Mendoza there are public universities and private universities. The public university is free and for everyone, but to enter we have to pass an exam. And in the private university you have to pay every month and like in the public university you have to pass an exan but it's easier than the public one, and the level of degree in the public university is higer than the degree in the private university. Here we have scolarships too, but it's very dificult to get one. Many people work and study at the same time, but it's very hard when you study in the public university because you don't have much time.

see you soon !
