We don't know all about the sports in the USA but we think that the most popular sports are basketball, baseball, american football, ice hockey and swimming.
The americans have the most famous basketball league, the NBA. In that league play Manuel Ginobilli, the ''Chapu'' Nocioni, Oberto and Carlos Delfino. They are players of our basketball national selection.
About american foootball we know that it is a strategic and very violent game, so the players use a special uniform, with helmet and a lot of protection. There play eleven players in each team and the game takes about 45 minutes.
Baseball is a much quieter sport and because that, the uniform is by far more comfortable. One of the most important team is the New York Yankees. To play that game the players need running fast. The americans have a lot of stadiums where they play the sport. It is very normal to go there with the family or friends to see the games.

The ice hockey are violent like the american football but we think it is more difficutl because the players skates on ice, so they need helmet too.

You hit most of the sports we like. However, football in America is about one hour long (four quarters of fifteen minutes) plus halftime. The special uniforms that they wear are called “pads” which is normally covered by the player’s team jersey. It is true that baseball is our favorite sport in America, but American football has rapidly overtaken the nation and is probably now more popular. Besides the sports you mentioned, there are new sports that are spreading through the nation. One is Lacrosse that started here on the east coast of the United States and is making its way into the Midwest. It is very similar to pato except there are more players, they are on the ground, and they are allowed to tackle. It is a very fast pace and brutal game. I am interested more so in an undeclared sport called paintball. It involves teams of players trying to eliminate each other by “shooting” them with paint. The game is also fast-paced and requires a helmet, some form of protection (armor), and ammo. You have to be careful when playing paintball as it is easy to seriously hurt someone, but the same applies to football. As you can tell, we like fast-paced non-stop in your face action sports, but we also like the less physical sports as well. Do you have any new sports?

Baseball, basketball, and football are probably our most popular sports. I would have to agree with Will and say that football seems to be the most popular.
I enjoy college basketball. I love the University of Maryland Terps basketball team. Basketball is my favorite sport.
Also, soccer is very popular here too. Most of my friends play soccer. I played soccer for one year when I was seven, and I just did not like it.
Lacrosse, like Will mentioned, is becoming very popular, especially in Maryland. I have never played on a team, but I have played with some friends before and it is very fun. What sports are becoming more popular in your country? Adios
I definitely agree that american football and baseball are the predominant sports in American culture. I played in a little-league when i was younger i played Soccer from the earliest i could until High school. I also played basketball when i was younger as well. But ill also agree with my groupmates in saying that lacrosse is growing in popularity at a great rate. A good portion of my friends have or had played lacrosse at some point in their lives.
Will was talking about playing paintball and that sport is great to watch and even more fun to play. I haven't played in a few years, but every time i have played, i've had an awesome time. Look up some videos on youtube and you can see the intensity of the sport first hand.
Yes, football is definitely taking over as America's favorite past time. I know the basics about football but I have never really been that interested in it. Rugby, which is similar to football but follows a different set of rules is much more dangerous. They have no pads at all and in my opinion is more violent than football. I went to a college rugby practice and despite my size, I'm 6'2, I never want to play again.
I prefer basketball over any other sport and it's the one that I follow. The NBA is a big league but I normally only watch it during the playoffs because they air so many games. We have several teams for each sport. Almost every state has it's own team. Is this also true in Argentina?
I enjoy soccer but I have determined that I am really bad at it so I mainly just watch.

you have it mostly right. obviously not everyione likes all teh sports you talked about, i dont really like sports at all, but what you said about each sport is correct. sports here are so popular, i believe, becasue they are promoted nationaly and televised. to be a fan you dont have to spend money and go to the games, you can simply watch them in the comfort of your own home, with family and friends. 2 comments about what you said. american football games last a long time. more like2 hours, mostly due to television commercials. the nature of the game is very slopw too, just ike baseball, becasue there is a lot of time between each play. also i would comment that swimming isnt so much a popualr sport in america, but it has gainded popularity due to the olympics.
