Hello guys!!!The person that we have decided to talk about is José de San Martín, he was an Argentine general and the prime leader of the southern part of South America's successful struggle for independence from Spain.
He was born on February 25, 1778 in Yapeyú, Corrientes. He lived is Spain many years but in 1808, after joining the Spanish forces to fight against the French, and participating in several battles San Martín started making contact with South American supporters of independence. In 1812, he set sail for Buenos Aires from England, and offered his services to the United Provinces of South America (present-day Argentina). After the Battle of San Lorenzo in 1813, he started his plan to attack Lima. This involved first creating an army in Cuyo, so he crossed the Andes from Mendoza to Chile, and prevailed over the Spanish forces, liberating Chile , and then he attacked Lima by sea, he seized partial control of Lima and was appointed "Protector of Perú". After that San Martín was regarded as one of the Liberators of Spanish South America.
We believe that he is worth mentioning to you for all this things and because he is a model of decency that everybody should try to follow and is the best representative of our culture.
So...This is the National hero of Argentina.
See ya!

Hola Amigos,
Como Estas? I think that your hero is awesome. Not many people look up to the past heroes that gave them everything that they have now. I also noticed that people from South and North America value freedom over anything else. Maybe that is a common value we share. My personal heroes are President George Washington, one of our Founding Fathers, and General George S. Patton, a war hero from World War II. I'm curious though if "Protector" is the same as leader or something like that? Also, did your hero do anything else? I know fighting for freedom is a big thing, but several of our heroes did other things as well. President Washington was an amazing architect while General Patton was instrumental in designing and commanding our tanks in World War II.

Wassup! How are you doing? Your hero sounds very interesting. Not only is he a hero but also a lot of your country’s history is embedded in his accomplishments. I understand why he would be chosen as your national hero because he gained independence for Spain. This seems to be the most popular hero also. What other heroes are of importance to your country? I can think of a massive list of people are considered heroes based solely on my African American heritage such as Abraham Lincoln, Harriet Tubman, and, of course, Martin Luther King Jr. However, other people might shed light on the accomplishments of other heroes. Does this division exist in Argentina or is a general consensus? Also, there are many artworks dedicated to the heroes of our country. There are monuments and museums filled with paintings, sculptures, and other types of artwork. Is this also true for you all? There are even holidays for several of these heroes often on their birthdays to commemorate their endeavors. Is there a national celebration in recognition of Jose de San Martin?

Hey guys!
Sorry about the wait on this comment but here it is. At first when we were thinking of a hero for this assignment, we couldnt really decide on someone in particular. Not one specific person comes in mind, rather we had to pick from a bunch of people who has directly affected what we are today. I see your hero also has done the same. Because of your hero, your country is what it is today. Sometimes i try to imagine my country if certain events didnt take place. For example, would i be british had we not won our revolutionary war? Who knows? Where do you think you would be had your hero not done what he had done?
Think about it. :)
Adios,
Ryan
Hey Friends,
José de San Martín sounds like an amazing hero to have. He gave you independence from Spain. José de San Martín seemed to give his whole life to defend and fight for Argentina. As an American, freedom is very important to us as well. We chose Martin Luther King because of that too. He began the rally for blacks to have freedom. I feel like it is very important for people to have freedom in order to live a full life. Beyond José de San Martín giving your county freedom, why did you pick him as your hero?
I will talk to you later,Bye.
Hola,
How are you doing? I was also curious about something. Did Argentina form as it was now or did it form into the nation it is after some series of events. In the United States, we assimilated certain areas that would later form our fifty states. Did this happen to Argentina? Also, I realize that your hero fought for independence against Spain, but did he fight against them for the other Spanish colonies too or just Argentina? It would be cool to have a hero that is renowned through several nations. Anyway, just curious.
See ya later
what i like most about your hero is that he did not only fight to free himself, but he cared about other people's freedoms also, and did everything he couold to defend them. Our teacher has mentioned that Argentinians like to make fun of Spaniards. I think that is funny. When you say that he came to Argentina from England, do you think he also spoke English? I am personally fascinated by other countries being bilingual, and wish that it were emphasized more in the US. Learning other languges is hard, but i think you guys did an excelent job this week on your post!
I really don't know if he spoke english and I have to admit I never think of that before.

Hola!
I think it is so important to look back at history. To remember all of the men and women who helped fight for independence and make our lives better today. Independence is something that everyone takes for granted, but it is good to remember and appreciate our freedom today. Your hero was one of those men who fought for your freedom, and Martin Luther King was someone who fought for our freedom. I just think it is so important to remember.
Bye!
